when people are doing barrel racing they use a tie down. a tie down helps keeps the horses head down so that when you are going for the barrel the horse has to be looking at it.i use a tie down to keep my horses head down and to stop him from chucking his head around, and some times ill put it on him so that he carnt rear.. if they carnt get their head up they carnt rear...
