boots

people put these boots on their horses when they do barrel racing so if the horse crosses his legs over and hits them together the horse wont hurt his legs.

these rubber boots are called bell boots, people use them for barrel racing they are are also used in jumping and flat work. they stop the horses from hurting them slef. they go on thier front feet so that when their back feet hit their front feet they dont cut their feet.

the barrels

for barrel racing every one just use the big round oil barrel. every one puts their own covers over the barrel with the name of the barrel racing club. the covers also help when your going around and you hit your leg on it, it dosnt hurt as much.

tie downs

when people are doing barrel racing they use a tie down. a tie down helps keeps the horses head down so that when you are going for the barrel the horse has to be looking at it.
i use a tie down to keep my horses head down and to stop him from chucking his head around, and some times ill put it on him so that he carnt rear.. if they carnt get their head up they carnt rear...

going around the barrel

when you are turning around the barrel your carnt just run fast to the barrel and pull your horse around. you can break the horses leg if you dont prepair them to go around. you need to take then up and then when your at the barrel you need to slow down tell the horses your turning.

stock horses

when i do barrel racing the kind of horse i use is a stock horse because they are used for chasing cows and doing lots of work with out and not getting tired. they are a strong fast horse.

when i started barrel racing my time wasnt very good. my first time was about 23 seconds and now my time i get is blow 19 seconds. i got my first horse when i was little then we moved so had to sell him and in the last 2 years i now have three horses. i do barrel racing only on one of my horses and the other two my sister rides around the padoct.
